They are pursued across the ice, slowly falling in love. They head across the ice to Volkov Station where they might find rescue. Sampson evacuates everyone from the station except Coop and Angel, the cook. He’s trying to find some ice cores Coop dug up because they contain a special virus.
However, Sampson, the facility manager has an alternate agenda. Ford Cooper can’t wait to have the quiet of the ice again. Long version: It’s the end of the summer season in Antarctica and most of the inhabitants of Burke-Ruhe Research Station are leaving. Summary: Short version: Can Coop and Angel survive Antarctica when they are stranded? I was intrigued by the setting of this book when it was discussed on Strong Sense of Place.
